Jim Burgess, SPHR, SHRM-SCP

Jim Burgess, SPHR, SHRM-SCP has over 30 years of human resources experience. He served as an HR director in a variety of industries including local government, corporate, higher education, international and the Federal Government. During this time, he successfully assisted in defending and winning the biggest public agency Whistleblower Lawsuit in Travis County. Burgess has also worked as an HR risk manager, implementing efforts that significantly reduced workers compensation costs, saving his organization millions of dollars. He has served as a benefits manager, is a Group Benefits Associate (GBA), a Retirement Planning Associate (RPA) and is within the final two elective courses of a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) certification.

In addition to teaching for the Center for Professional Education (CPE), Burgess works as a performance and awards manager in a government agency.
