The University of Texas at Austin Oscar Mike (UTOM) Program

UTOM is a new portfolio of virtual Credentialing Assistance and Military Family Transition Support programs designed to support the U.S. Army Soldier for Life and ETS Sponsorship Programs. UTOM offers service members and spouses the opportunity to develop and certify professional skills and receive military transition support as they move to civilian life. Some fees may be covered for Soldiers via Army Credentialing Opportunities On-Line (COOL) Funding for military spouses may be covered via MySeco

UTOM provides a holistic program for service members and military spouses, combining educational and career services offered by the Center for Professional Education and Strategic Initiatives office with emotional and social supportive programs from UT's Institute for Military and Veteran Family Wellness.

This program is made possible through partnerships formed between ETS Sponsorship, the Soldier for Life program, the U.S. Department of Labor and UT Austin. - The Department of Defense and the Department of the Army are neither affiliated with nor endorse our organization.

Military Family Transition Supports

UTOM strives to offer exceptional educational opportunities for transitioning servicemembers and spouses and provides transition support for the whole family, such as the following programs offered through the Institute for Military and Veteran Family Wellness:

  • Monthly Up & Out Transition Seminars feature subject matter experts to discuss how to ensure a smooth post-service landing. Seminars are open to all transitioning spouses, partners and couples. Sign up for the seminar topics that interest you or complete the entire seminar series.

  • Spouses Transition Too (T2) Chats bring together transitioning spouses and committed partners to discuss all the ups and downs of the transition journey from the spouse's perspective.

  • The #CivLife Peer Panel lets you ask all your burning questions to veteran spouses who have been there and done that. They know the struggles and anticipation your family is facing as you create your new path in the post-service community and want to help.
