To support the career readiness of UT Austin students, the university's Center for Professional Education is giving away five spots each in several one-day professional development classes that will be conducted on campus this May, June, July and August.
"The program was great for me as a career-changer and something I could do while maintaining my full-time job. I learned a lot of new things about data analytics at a reasonable pace, but wasn’t so overwhelmed all the time to where other areas of my life might suffer or get de-prioritized. I really like the pace of the program and the way it’s structured with group meetings every week and a mentor with a lot of industry experience right there with you the whole time and very easily accessible through email or web boards. I felt really supported as I picked up new skills and learned so much. It was a really great course. My favorite part of the course was the deep analytics portion. I really like that one because we’ve gone through a good chunk of the program at that point and we’ve learned a lot of basic analytics, we’ve done a lot of machine learning in a very structured way, and with the deep analytics course, you’re let go to figure things out on your own for the first time which is intimidating and challenging but very, very worthwhile."
"Amira Pollock brings great enthusiasm, people skills, and professional expertise to her public speaking course.
During my session she had students who were terrified of speaking in public, and others who did it on a regular basis. She treated them all the same, tailoring her comments and advice to specifically meet the needs of that individual. Regardless of their skill level, she was able to gently push them to do better than they had before. Everyone demonstrated improved skill levels by the time the course was over.
Amira is a gifted instructor whose skill set will help any organization."
"The Project Management Certificate Program at UT Austin is an incredible professional experience. The course is very well designed and organized, and well geared towards professionals from all industries. David Berlad is extraordinary instructor, providing a unique teaching style that draws on his well-honed expertise in his field to supplement the structured course material. Along with his role as an educator, David is a remarkable coach and mentor who provides hands-on attention that helps to reinforce the curriculum and prepare students for both the (PMP)® certification exam and real world workplace scenarios. I would not hesitate for a moment, to highly recommend this course."

From the long hours our students spend in the classroom, to the endless nights coding away at home, we are constantly inspired by the graduates of The Coding Boot Camp at UT Austin.
Amanda Wisniowski, graduate of the July 2017 cohort, recently put the skills she picked up at The Coding Boot Camp to the test at the 2018 SXSW Hackathon. At this intensive, marathon coding event, hackers and fellow collaborators can create apps that pertain to film, music, VR/AR, and the blockchain.
"The hackathon reminded me of the projects we did for the boot camp, but condensed into 24 hours, instead over a 2 week span," Wisniowski shared. "Having the group project experience in building apps during the boot camp helped me navigate this hackathon well, and will definitely carry over professionally during my career."
After 24 hours of sleep deprivation and hard work, the talents of Wisniowski and her two teammates paid off—with their livestreaming VR concert app Concertbilia taking home second place in the Amazon category.
