Derek M. Edwards, MSLM, PMP

Derek M. Edwards, MSLM, PMP, is a Senior Program Manager who teaches Project Management courses for the Center for Professional Education (CPE) at UT Austin. His experience spans more than 20 years in project and program management in the defense industry, 14 of which focused on turning around poor performing projects. Edwards has 20 years of process improvement experience where he implemented improvements as an officer in the United States Air Force as well as in the freight, alarm, defense and innovative online learning industries. His breadth of experience has ranged from managing multiple projects at any one time with contract values of less than $250K to development projects in excess of $40M. 

Edwards is also a certified Texas Master Naturalist.

Credentials: 

Derek Edwards received a master's degree in leadership and management from the University of La Verne and is globally certified by the Project Management Institute as a Project Management Professional (PMP)®. He is a member of the Austin chapter of the Project Management Institute.
